Where It All Came Together
Introducing Held
I am delighted to share that I am exhibiting a collection of my work at Horsham Museum until 5 September.
This exhibition brings together over a year of research, design and making, and marks the first time Held has been shown in its entirety. Alongside the exhibition, a selection of my ready-to-wear jewellery is also available to purchase exclusively through the museum for the duration of the exhibition.
Held began as a single hand piece created for my final design project at the British Academy of Jewellery. At the time, I never imagined it would grow into a museum exhibition. Since then, it has evolved into a collection of four sculptural works exploring jewellery, the body and object-making through themes of motherhood and nurture.
Alongside the jewellery, the exhibition also includes Warmth, a candle holder that represents my first step into creating objects for the home. While jewellery remains at the heart of my practice, I have become increasingly interested in exploring how metalwork can become part of our everyday surroundings.
Preparing for this exhibition has also given me the chance to reflect on where this collection was made.
Since September 2025, I have been based at the Jewellers Academy Brighton studio, as one of the resident jewellers. Having a dedicated studio space gave me the freedom to develop ideas over time, experiment with new techniques and slowly refine the collection into what it has become today.
It was in the studio that Held really came to life. Sketches became paper prototypes, prototypes became metal, and countless hours at the bench transformed ideas into finished pieces. It was also where I launched my first jewellery collection, exhibited my work in the Made by Jewellers Gallery and experienced the excitement of selling my first Flora Signet Ring.
What I'll remember most, though, is the people. Sharing the studio with other jewellers and makers meant I was surrounded by people who were also on a similar journey. We shared knowledge, encouraged one another and celebrated each other's achievements. As my time at Jewellers Academy Brighton comes to an end this month, I'm incredibly grateful for everything the studio has given me.
Seeing Held exhibited in its entirety for the first time marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
If you're visiting Horsham Museum this summer, I hope you'll take the time to see the exhibition. Whether you've followed my work for a while or are discovering it for the first time.
